HOW TO KEEP YOUR LOOK ON-POINT DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON
Did Black Friday come late this year?
If you’re feeling more under-the-gun than usual this December, you’re not alone. The holiday season shopping, partying, and planning window that traditionally runs from Thanksgiving to Christmas is six days shorter this year. For those people tired of the “Christmas Creep” (that phenomenon that has Santa showing up in stores the minute the Halloween candy is put away), this seven-year shift to the calendar is a welcome change. For the rest of us, it’s anxiety-provoking. But with a little extra time management (along with some liquid holiday cheer), you’ll be able to get through this. You just need a plan.
1 – MAKE YOUR BARBER APPOINTMENT YESTERDAY
The holiday season is your barber’s busiest time of year. That last-minute “squeeze me in” haircut that is a favor during the other eleven months of the year, probably won’t be possible during busy season. If you want to look your best for your well-meaning but sometimes overly critical parents or in-laws this year, we recommend that you get your hair cut a week before you see them. This will give your hair plenty of time to settle into style.
2 – CHANGE YOUR SHOWER REGIMEN
December in New York is famous for its weather’s split personality. Today, the weather may climb into the mid to high 50s. Tomorrow, we could see a high of 30 degrees. All of this wreaks havoc on your hair and skin. Take shorter and less hot showers, towel dry more, blow dry less, and always use a sulfate-free shampoo like the ones sold by Artisan Barber.
3 – MAKE A TRAVEL GROOMING PLAN
If you’re one of the 100 million people who will traveling to somewhere warmer or colder this holiday season, you’ll be spending a good chunk of time living out of a suitcase. Having a travel grooming plan is particularly essential when it comes to shaving or beard maintenance. If you’re flying, make sure that your grooming products are TSA compliant in containers that hold no more than 3.4 ounces. Also, pressurized cabins are famous for sucking the moisture out of your skin. So, moisturize your face and beard before boarding.
4 – GO WATER-SOLUBLE
Even if you styled your coif perfectly before leaving the house, time can be a thief on your perfectly planned look. Like items that shift in the overhead compartments on a plane, a long flight can have some unintended consequences on your hairstyle. Using a water-soluble styling product on a travel day gives you the option of taking a quick trip to the sink to refresh your look.
5 – BE GOOD TO YOURSELF. GET A STOCKING STUFFER
The holidays are a great time to try some new things. In addition to our already popular hair and skin products, Artisan Barber is proud to announce the roll-out of some new items. Start 2020 out right with our new Beard Balm, Shave Tonic, and Sea Salt Spray.
