Irma is the kind of stylist who brings both skill and personality to Artisan Barber. With over 20 years of experience in hairstyling, Irma has honed her craft to perfection. Starting her career with a focus on hair color, she has always worked with both men and women, but it’s her love for precision scissor haircuts that truly sets her apart. Whether it’s a clean and sharp men’s style or a perfectly tailored women’s cut, Irma’s attention to detail makes every client feel like they’re her masterpiece.

Originally from Rochester, NY, Irma admits there’s one thing she can’t quite get over—her hometown’s pizza. “New York City pizza is overrated. Everyone says it’s the best, but I always find myself going to Rochester just to get a slice from Puggies Pizza,” she says with a laugh. That love for home and authenticity is something she brings to her craft, creating styles as original as her personality.

Irma moved to New York City in the 2010s with dreams of pursuing acting, drawn by the opportunities and the strong family support she found here. But her passion for hairstyling never took a backseat. For the past two and a half years, she’s been a cornerstone at Artisan Barber, where her favorite part of the job is watching clients leave the shop standing a little taller. “There’s something so rewarding about seeing people walk out the door with confidence,” she shares.

Outside the shop and acting, Irma has a unique business venture—coquitos! She has her own business called the Coquito Lady. If you’ve never tried coquito, it’s a rich and creamy holiday drink from Puerto Rico, kind of like eggnog but with coconut milk, spices, and rum. Irma’s version is a hit, and she’s always bringing samples for her clients to try. It’s the perfect treat to add a little holiday cheer to your appointment and makes her chair an even cozier place to be.

In her downtime, you might spot Irma walking through Central Park or strolling to work, soaking in the energy and vibrancy of the city. “I love that you can just sit on a bench and watch—there’s so much life,” she says.

And when it comes to wild stories, Irma’s clippers could probably write a memoir. One highlight? Cutting the hair of Beck’s mother. “She just sat in my chair and said, ‘Do you know who Beck is?’ I freaked out! Of course, I know who Beck is—I played his CDs in my car all the time.”

Lately, Irma has been focused on her health, hitting the gym and building her strength. Her dedication to self-improvement mirrors the passion she pours into her work, always striving to be her best for her clients.
